Student Jordan Lange offers a behind the scenes perspective on this semester’s final fashion event.
After registering for the Event Planning (BUS 293) class at LdM, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into. It wasn’t until the first day of class that we learned we would be helping to plan the end of the semester event and I was instantly ecstatic. In our class we learned the importance of organization, leadership skills, flexibility along with budgeting, planning, marketing, sponsorship and everything
else needed to produce a successful event. We all worked together to create the event name, slogan, and logo and were separated into groups that best fit our interests. We decided on a sustainable event with a fashion show called Greenway: Sustaining With Style. I was lucky enough to be chosen as head fashion coordinator for the fashion show that included designs that incorporated paper, plastic or metal. We created model boards, choosing the model order for the fashion show and which outfit would exit onto the runway first based on color and designs. When it came time for the event, the real fun began. I was able to work back stage with all of the models and designers and see all of the creative masterpieces each person was able to produce over the course of the semester. It was amazing to see some of the pieces come to life once they were put onto the models that were complete with hair and makeup. After scurrying around and making sure the models were lined up in correct order, the fashion show began and
finished flawlessly! Overall, the event went extremely well and I was very pleased to be able to contribute to such a fun event.
